2025 has come far too soon, far too brilliant, and far too joyous for its own good, much like the rising sun. It also brings our first selection of PS Plus Essential games. Let’s see what comes up.
If you currently have a PlayStation Plus Essential or above subscription, you can claim the following games for free starting on January 7. As usual, add them to your library even if you don’t plan to play them so you’ll have them in case you decide to change your mind later.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – PS5
Despite Warner Bros.’ financial failure and its failure to ignite a global revolution, I believe it is worth seeing. Although it isn’t very good, the acting is excellent, the story is passable, and the character interactions are a lot of fun. Was the whole price worth it? Absolutely not. But for the pitiful price of nothing at all? Do it.
Just keep in mind that the game’s live-service feature is set to disappear. However, an offline mode has been included.
Here’s the synopsis: “This genre-defying, action-adventure third-person shooter from Rocksteady Studios, the same company behind the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, lets you take down The Justice League alone or with friends in multiplayer co-op. The game, which places the four DC Super-Villains on a collision course with an invading alien force and DC Super Heroes who are now intent on destroying the city they once pledged to protect, has an original plot set in the vast open-world city of Metropolis.
The Suicide Squad must constantly be aware that they have deadly explosives in their skulls that could detonate at the slightest hint of disobedience. Along with a range of weaponry to personalise and skills to learn, each squad member has a distinct moveset and improved traversal capabilities to freely explore Metropolis’ dynamic open world.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe – PS4, PS5
is also available. This original story-based game is both humorous and thought-provoking. You explore an apparently unending maze of hallways and rooms as the title character Stanley, as a narrator narrates your every step.
The 2013 highly praised and award-winning independent game The Stanley Parable has been expanded and reimagined in “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.” Here, everything from the original Stanley Parable is kept exactly as it was in 2013. However, with extra choices, information, and secrets to discover, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe also significantly broadens the game’s universe. The labyrinth has just grown in size.
Additionally, the game’s aesthetic has been updated to reflect contemporary technologies while maintaining the original game’s tone. The game now has accessibility features like content warnings, colourblind settings, and in-world text localisation. And as previously, Kevan Brighting’s flawless voice acting will be with you at every turn.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered – PS4
In Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, experience the exhilaration of the chase and the rush of escape. Drive the sexiest high-performance vehicles in the world and unleash your ferocious feeling of speed as a cop or an outlaw. In a heart-pounding, socially competitive racing game, outsmart the heat or defeat criminals with the tactical weapons at your disposal.
This is the final version of Criterion Games’ highly regarded Need for Speed debut, featuring improved graphics, cross-platform multiplayer (including the asynchronous competition enabled by Autolog), and all new DLC content. It’s time to start the hunt again.
