You can collect a multitude of weapons in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and with enough practice, Henry can learn to use almost anything. You can employ a variety of swords, and the short ones are particularly useful for swift stabbing attacks because they are lightweight. We will go over some of the top shortswords available in the game in this list!
Best 5 Shortswords in the Game
Although the game offers a variety of sword kinds, shortswords are generally excellent options unless you have a unique need for a blunt weapon. These are easily located throughout the game, and some of the blades you might want to search for are listed below.
NOTE: Although we will attempt to be as ambiguous as possible, there will be at least one significant tale spoiler here. We’ve warned you!

Shortsword #1 – The Basilard
Throughout the game’s two zones, the basilard is a sort of blade that may be purchased from a few blacksmiths or occasionally discovered in different storage containers. It can also be dropped by some foes, and as it is a rather regular drop, you might not need to search far and wide.
The weapon is said to have come from Basel, Switzerland, according to legend, but no one can verify this. Peasants were also prohibited from possessing swords in various regions during the Middle Ages. Even commoners can own one because of its size, which technically makes it not one. This could be the reason why many bandits possess it.
The weapon’s tier 3 version has a stab of 115, a slash of 121, a defense of 198, and a durability of 108. Considering that it is a sword, its extremely low blunt damage should be obvious.
If you can figure out the recipe, you can also make one yourself, and it might have even higher numbers. In the Trosky region, close to Apollonia, lies a cave that has the Sketch – Basilard item you need to build your own.The recipe requires:
- 1x Fastening Material
- 1x Copper
- 1x Exotic Wood
- 1x Toledo Steel
- 1x Iron

Shortsword #2 – The Knight’s Sword
Knight’s sword is just what its name suggests. It is a rather simple weapon that, based on the description, is excellent against adversaries with heavy armor because of its heavy point.
Similar to the basilard, this is available for purchase from a number of blacksmiths worldwide. It is also a weapon that more formidable adversaries use quite frequently. Don’t expect the typical bandit to be carrying one of these because most lower level foes won’t have one due to its nature.
With 149 stabs, 157 slashes, 225 defense, 238 durability, and even a mediocre 47 blunt, the Knight’s sword has a stronger stat line. Although most players have complained that its drawing is flawed, it is said to be craftable.
Because of its exceptional resilience, this shortsword is truly among the greatest choices in terms of longevity. Additionally, its overall damage is respectable, ranking only somewhat higher than the following choice.

Shortsword #3 – The Noble’s Sword
As the name suggests, the Noble’s sword is a weapon designed especially for people in higher positions in society. Despite having one obvious flaw, it is said to be among the better shortswords in terms of value and statistics.
It is available from a number of blacksmiths and merchants, especially in the Kuttenberg area. Additionally, it can be found in a few chests or NPCs that you can steal from.
It can have a 143 stab, 150 slash, 213 defense, and an extremely low 52 durability, according to its data. As you can see, it is more brittle than the other choices on this list, but it also has damage that is unquestionably higher.
If you locate the Sketch—Noble’s Sword—in an abandoned forge close to Mesoles, you can build it. You will also need the following supplies if you intend to make your own:
- 1x Decorated sword pommel
- 1x Deer skin
- 1x Horned sword guard
- 1x Iron
- 1x Toledo Steel

Shortsword #4 – Lord von Bergow’s Sword
This weapon is a huge spoiler for a possible main tale conclusion only by virtue of its name. We’ll just jump right to the statistics on this one since you can probably figure it out from here and you can’t create your own version of it.
This sword has a slash of 157, a stab of 149, a defense of 225, and a durability of about 120. It essentially functions as a less robust Knight’s sword. The primary distinction is that you may essentially obtain this by advancing in the game.
Given who the original owner is, it makes fitting that it looks similar to the Noble’s sword. Until you can obtain the best shortsword in the game, which comes next on the list, it is a good “free” weapon to have.

Shortsword #5 – Sword of Sir Valentine
You can build the Sword of Sir Valentine both during and after finishing “The Reliquary,” a side quest. Speaking with a Humble Knight, who can be located northwest of the Sedletz Monastery, is the first step in this process.
Once you get to the Kuttenberg area, feel free to do the quest whenever you can because it isn’t that difficult or complex. The blade is essentially a duplicate of the sword that Sir Valentine formerly possessed; we will let you figure out the rest for yourself.
You really forge this as part of the side mission, but for reasons we won’t reveal, you might not be able to test it out once you finish it. To make it, you’ll need the following supplies:
- 1x Copper
- 1x Straight sword guard
- 1x Cow skin
- 1x Coin sword pommel
- 1x Frankfurt steel
- 1x Scrap metal
Its impressive stats include 159 stabs, 167 slashes, 242 defense, and 128 durability. It is unquestionably the most potent shortsword of the group, despite not having the strongest blade. Additionally, it has a slightly distinctive look, which may be another reason to get it right away.

And in the game, those are some of the greatest shortswords available. Continue forging or looting since there are numerous different weapon varieties, some of which are far more lethal in battle!
