Grok 3 has been trained by xAI in a massive data centre in Memphis that houses about 200,000 GPUs. Musk stated in a post on X that Grok 3 was created with “10x” as much processing power as Grok 2, utilising a larger training data set that purports to contain court case records.
Musk stated in a live-streamed talk on Monday that “Grok 3 is an order of magnitude more capable than Grok 2.” “[It is] an AI that seeks the truth to the fullest extent possible, even if that truth occasionally contradicts political correctness.”
Specifically, Grok 3 is a family of models. Grok 3 tiny, a scaled-down version of Grok 3, answers queries faster at the expense of some accuracy. Grok 3’s models and associated features started rolling out on Monday, albeit not all of them are presently ready (some are in beta).

DeepSearch, xAI’s response to AI-powered research tools like OpenAI’s deep research, is a new feature in the Grok app that is supported by Grok’s reasoning models. In order to analyse data and provide an abstract in response to a query, DeepSearch searches the internet and X.
Grok 3 will be available first to subscribers of X’s Premium+ tier ($50 per month); other features will be restricted to a new plan that xAI is naming SuperGrok. SuperGrok, which costs $30 a month or $300 a year (if leaks are to be believed), adds infinite image production along with more reasoning and DeepSearch queries.
According to Musk, the Grok app will soon have a “voice mode” that will provide Grok models with a synthesised voice, possibly as soon as a week from now. A few weeks later, the DeepSearch feature and Grok 3 models will be accessible through xAI’s corporate API.
According to Musk, xAI intends to make Grok 2 open-source in the upcoming months.
“When the next version [of Grok] is fully released, we will open-source the previous version,” he added. “We’ll open-source Grok 2 once Grok 3 is stable and mature, which should happen in a few months.”
